TINCE’S HOUSE – ALWAYS OPEN FOR CATS!
TINCE’S STORY IS A PAINFUL REMINDER OF THOSE WHO ARE LEFT IN THE COLD WITHOUT SHELTER, NEITHER DURING HARSH WINTER NIGHTS NOR IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER.
The little cat was found early one winter morning outdoors, frozen, unconscious, with a critically low body temperature. she had nowhere to hide. No basement to crawl into. no warm place
to survive the night.
Tince lost her life in the cold simply because, at some point, humanity remained behind locked doors. It is in memory of tince that the project “tince’s house” was created, so that no cat would ever again have to freeze simply because there is nowhere to hide.
About the project.
In cooperation with the Cat Rescue Centre REMI, the LNK Charity Foundation, and with the support of LNK Industries, 100 insulated wooden cat houses for stray cats will be produced and installed across Latvia within one year.
These houses will provide safe, warm, and permanent shelter for cats living outdoors, in courtyards, allotment gardens, industrial areas, and other places where coexistence between people and stray cats is part of everyday life.
The houses are insulated and adapted to Latvia’s climate so that during cold winter nights they become a real chance for survival, while in summer and rainy periods they provide protection from direct sunlight and moisture.
Why is this important?
In recent years, basement entrances have increasingly been sealed off, access points closed, and places where cats once found shelter from the cold have disappeared. As a result, many stray cats freeze during winter or suffer from severe hypothermia.
This project is not only about houses. It is about responsibility. About humanity towards the vulnerable. About the ability to keep doors and hearts open. Public attitude determines whether these cats live or die. Even a small piece of land for a warm shelter can mean a life saved.
How to apply for a cat house?
Residents of Latvia can apply to receive a cat house in their neighbourhood if:
Our goal is to ensure that the houses are placed responsibly and safely, serving cats in the long term while also helping to create an organised and tidy urban environment with designated feeding and gathering points for stray cats.
Tince’s Houses – always open for cats. Tince’s story could have ended differently. And we can make sure others have a better ending. Do not lock. Do not close. Doors. Heart doors. Let them survive.
