Charlie Chaplin once said: “A day without laughter is a wasted day!” That is why we inflated some balloons, baked a cake, bought a big box of watermelons and went to visit “Sprīdītis” orphanage to multiply smiles and joy, and to get a small insight into journalism!
Just as winter boots do not grow along with kids legs, the glasses do not grow along with children bright heads as well. LNK Charity Fund made sure that kids and teachers of “Sprīdītis” orphanage have suitable optical glasses.
There are six children in Sanita’s family. The youngest son is 2 months old and the oldest daughter will start going to school in September. Before, Sanita, her husband and six children were sharing a one-room apartment, but according to Latvian law, one cannot register so many people in such a small apartment, so Sanita’s family could not obtain a low-income family status and receive a government allowance.
“Atvērtība” Family Support Centre provides support to families in crisis situations — large and single-parent families, high-risk families, women and children suffering from illegal actions, young mothers, as well as families with children with special needs.
